My Students
We service 40 students from families in a rural community in South Eastern Kentucky. Our students are ages 3-5 and love learning. We have a special needs population in our classroom as preschool provides early childhood intervention. Our students always come in with a smile on their faces!
Our students love learning through play in our learning-rich environment. We are using the ECERS evaluation tool to make sure that our center is the best that it can be for developing lifelong learners. Our kids love playing with blocks, animals, and exploring the world around them.
My Project
Our classroom library is lacking in quality books. For this project we are trying to fill in all the gaps with the books we are requesting. These books will be used to enhance units, be out for children to explore on their own, and of course they will be read aloud.
Books are the best way to expose children to different concepts, people, and spark their imagination. By exposing students from rural Kentucky about people of different races, genders, abilities, and cultures, we can start creating the change we so desperatly need in our society. The future starts with our kids!
