My students need this early STEM kit to support their learning about how objects move by designing developmentally appropriate physical science experiments with wooden ramps and balls.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My young students think critically about their world. This experimental thinking is the development of early STEM skills. In the early childhood classroom, my students persevere, solve problems and display true grit.
I am astonished each day at how hard my students work.
My students are continuously refining their learning skills when they complete classroom work. I would like to support my kindergarten students' development of early STEM skills with the resources necessary to carryout a Next Generation Science Standards project in physical science.
My Project
My kindergarten students will be learning and applying their understanding of forces and motion in a Next Generation Science Standards Project. We will be planning and conducting an investigation into the strengths and directions of pushes and pulls. Students will be thinking critically and modifying experiments to determine effective design solutions.
We need the necessary resources in order to effectively carryout this STEM experience.
The learning resources will be available for my young students in a structured whole group scientific investigation. Additionally, the ramps and balls will be available during work time as a self-directed learning experience and as an exploratory resource on the playground. This repeated experimentation with the materials will help my students refine their early STEM skills throughout the day.
