My students need paint brushes of various sizes, palettes to mix and store paint, and a paper cutter for me to cut art paper to correct size.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the favorite part of your school day? Besides recess, many would say art. Due to changes in schools, art has been phased out, or if it exists at all, it is done on a small scale with little to no supplies.
My students are some of the nicest sixth graders you will ever meet.
They have a real passion for learning that has far exceeded my expectations this year. Most of my students come from poverty and live in gang-infested areas. Also, most come from homes where a language other than English is spoken. This makes learning more difficult because they are trying to learn grade-level standards while also increasing their English ability. This causes them to work harder for the same results when it comes to the core subjects. Art provides an escape for my students who struggle through most of the day. My students come from hard working families that often do not have time to provide enriching experiences. For most of them, this is the only time they will use a paintbrush or see works of art. I understand this, which is why I am dedicated to providing them with a well-rounded learning experience every day.
My Project
With these new paint brushes, my students will be able to replace what is left of our old paint brushes. We had been working on an art project earlier this year and the bristles from the paint brushes began to fall off. The handles became warped and it was just time to part ways. My students were careful enough so the brushes lasted through the project, but now it is time to replace them. Our next two art projects involve mixing primary colors (red, yellow, blue) to make secondary and tertiary colors. By using the palettes instead of paper plates to mix, my students will have much more time to paint each day. So much of our time is dedicated to cleaning up. With these palettes, students can cover their trays and be ready to paint the next day! I am also asking for a paper cutter. This will always be inaccessible to students, but it will help me in prepping for the art projects.
By providing these supplies to my students, it will ensure that they have a well-rounded education.
My students are developing an appreciation for art and some are even realizing that they have a real talent! My students deserve these opportunities to see how to create a color wheel and paint masterpieces! They are more motivated throughout the day when they know that art is to come. Thank you, very much for your help in changing their lives!
