Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher who services kindergarten and third grade students with a variety of abilities! I currently serve as an inclusion teacher in two diverse learning classrooms! I run to and from each classroom multiple times throughout the day. Our inclusive classrooms have special education teachers like me push in at specific times during the day to co-teach. There are countless benefits to having multiple teachers available to help all students.

Studies show that inclusion is beneficial for all students — not just for those who get special education services.

In fact, research shows that inclusive education has positive short-term and long-term effects for all students.

The students in each class are as unique as the rooms themselves! Each child has different interests, abilities, social emotional growth and academic strengths. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to regulate their behavior and monitor their personal successes.

Each child is unique and it is my goal to highlight their personal strengths and success within the academic and social setting!

The pencil sharpener, easel pads, and other materials we are asking for are necessary supplies in our classroom. We were lucky enough to start the year stocked but have found ourselves running through almost all of our supplies in the first half of the school year.

The supplies in this project are basic classroom supplies. Not every family can afford to resupply our room. As the teacher, I have to explore all possibilities to get my students the supplies they need. The supplies will provide all my runny nosed students with the materials and supplies necessary to keep them learning and healthy until the end of the year.
