My students need a new rug to help us organize our classroom and give us individual space.
Are you claustrophobic? Have you ever been in a tight elevator? Imagine being in a situation like that and needing to listen and learn. That is what our class has been like this year and in years past. We are facing record numbers of kindergartners here at our school.
I have 22 kindergarten students.
They are all very curious and active. All of them have very large personalities. I even have some very helpful "little teachers"! This class loves to learn and get a close look at everything. This can cause chaos in a large group setting that is so close and tight. They enjoy songs, games and cooking. We spend lots of time together and we are very much like a little family.
I am requesting the A Place for Everyone classroom carpet. This is a very bright and colorful carpet with 30 individual squares for each child to have their own spot. The squares are large enough for Math games, letter work, and will be perfect for classroom management/organization. Being able to say things like, "keep your hands in your square," will be perfect for keeping students on-task and giving them a visual boundary.
This project would change the way we have lessons.
Instead of sending the class to their seats to play a game or complete a small activity, we can stay put. This will save transition time. We can learn and engage in activities right where we are, our personal square on our new rug! As far as organizing our class, this will make such a positive impact on our daily interactions by giving us the division from each other we need to learn. This new rug is the answer to our space problem.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
