My Students

My students are a happy group who enjoy life. Over half are of Native American descent and qualify for free/reduced meals. It is exciting to have a group of students like this because they like to try new ideas and look forward to each new challenge.

My students take their can-do outlook on life and transform it into their way of thinking: "What can't I do?".

Our school is small but it’s this closeness that brings with it the chance to care and interact with each other on a more personal basis. My students love their school and their community. It is truly a joy to be around them!

They love life and show it daily. It makes my day each time I walk through the door.

My Project

The alarm goes off each morning but in the pandemic time that we live in now I’m not always sure that I will get to see my students in person. To say that distance learning has been a challenge would be an understatement.

Being able to use the Wacom Intuos drawing tablets, digital microscope, Circuit Express and various STEAM supplies would be an awesome step toward keeping learning loss to a minimum.

The Wacom Intuos tablets will work as a mouse does but their graphic capabilities, which are needed in several of my classes, are where they really shine. Using a mouse for graphic design is nearly impossible. Being very portable makes them perfect for virtual transition but having them available in-person will give them a chance to expand their skills as well. The digital microscope would be used in my science classes but should we have to go virtual I could use it to demonstrate the activity, save it as a digital file then send it to my students. I can even show it to them live via Zoom which is the next best thing to being there, or as close as I can get! We do not currently have enough of the Circuit Playground Express to keep students working and not waiting for several class periods for their chance to use one or have it delivered to their house. Adding those requested will solve that problem. Some supplies are also needed to restock STEAM kits that can be used in class or sent home.

Having these items will help my students to catch up on the learning they have missed because of the pandemic and keep them from losing learning if they go virtual again.
