My students are very active learners, who enjoy being creative and sharing their talents and achievements with others. Even though teaching in a poverty and low-income school district where students face challenges both in and out of the classroom, my students desire to excel. I desire to give my students opportunities and resources to succeed, despite the many challenges they face.
My musical and performing arts classroom gives students active learning experiences through music, movement, and teamwork, creating a positive learning environment that my students enjoy and benefit from academically, emotionally, and physically.
My students like to move; they love to read and love lots of positive attention.
Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These students need opportunities for positive, life-impacting experiences that will help them improve their physical, cognitive, and social development. Having equipment students may not have at home, gives them opportunities to experience all of the great benefits of music and hands-on learning.
My Project
Students learn music in many different ways. The future of music will need to include technology that keeps students engaged and excited about learning.
Having this oculus in class, will bring our classroom music lessons up close and personal.
Imagine going inside the music with a program that gets students feeling the rhythm and playing along with drums or keyboards. Students will be able to play along with other students and create music together. Students will use this oculus at one of our learning centers. This will be a favorite!
