I teach high school biology to students in the San Francisco Bay Area. My students are surrounded by innovative science and technology companies, and my goal is to prepare them for their world outside of our classroom.
My students are aspiring scientists, innovators, and creative thinkers.
To prepare them for the future, I want to transform our classroom from a traditional desk in rows, lecture setting, to something that matches the laboratories and companies around us. I want students to explore, communicate, collaborate, and have hands-on lab experiences that open their eyes to the world around them and inspire them to help make our world a better place.
My students are eager to learn, and I want them to feel empowered and inspired in our classroom.
My Project
Lab experiences are a vital part of a student's biology education. My classroom needs a class set of thermometers to use during a variety of labs in our class this year.
From observing the effects of temperature on enzymes, monitoring the temperature of incubators and hot water baths for our bacterial transformation lab, to recording the temperature of enclosed environments when studying the processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration, accurate thermometers are a necessity.
Please help supply my classroom with 10 thermometers to measure -20 to 110 degrees Celsius, as well as an infrared thermometer to easily measure surface temperatures.
