My students need basic hygiene items deodorant, shampoo, condition, maxi pads, to take home for those long weekends, and wipes for those hot days that they need to freshen up.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a fabulous Title I School with a wonderful principal that is hands-on and visible to all the students. She was the person behind making our school a community-based school. A school that would serve the community as a whole. It starts by helping the family getting access to the services they need. With that in mind, I work with my students in meeting their academic gaps. Our school implements weekly STEAM Clubs which the whole school participates on Mondays along with a yearly parent science night and technology night. We will like to include more coding in our STEAM Clubs. The more options the students have the more opportunities.

The school currently runs a weekend food backpack to provide for the students over the weekend. As a school, we are the first in our state to become a community-based school that provides these resource for parents and students. The school provides early weekly literacy classes for future kindergarten students, medical care, job search, and referral to behavioral health services. This has been a great hit because by helping the family you are helping the child.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The hygiene product will be made into easy on the go bags for my students. Our students are unique as they come from; low-income population, foster care, and homeless. We would like for them to always feel fresh and welcomed. It will be easy for them to head over to my classroom and pick up a pack. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, maxi pads, toothpaste, chapstick, wipes, and crackers will be easy for students to pick up and go. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' everyday life as it is they are struggling with basic everyday needs, we would love to be able to make them feel welcomed and part of the school. As we are limited in funds as a school we are looking for generous donors to help us with this unique population of students. We are also in need of a new thermometer. We will use these materials to aid us in the process of becoming a lifelong learner. As the teacher, I have done extensive research and students that have to worry about basic needs have a hard time learning in the classroom. I would love to make my student's life a little easier. One less thing to worry about. Thanks!
