This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Remember doing worksheets in school? I try to do everything I can so that I am not giving my students worksheets but they still need practice and these Hot Dot cards are the perfect way for them to practice necessary skills.
My students are creative, inquisitive, and excited to learn.
They attend a K-12, public school in an urban school district. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. Most students come from a home of low socioeconomic status. Our school does not have a lot of money allocated for resources and supplies.
My Project
My students love any type of technology or gadget. It can make the most mundane task more exciting. These Hot Dot pens reinforce correct answers and give encouragement for incorrect answers, allowing the student to use the pen and cards on their own. The cards range in skills and levels and cover math and reading concepts.
Students will be gaining independence while practicing and reinforcing skills that we are learning during our lessons.
The Hot Dot pen makes practicing these skills more enjoyable and gives them instant feedback to let them know how they are doing. They would be a great addition to our classroom resources for station and independent work time.
