Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I service about 45-50 of the lowest readers in 4th and 5th grade. I have nine, 30 minute, groups daily. The groups have anywhere from 4-6 students in each group. They come to group excited to read and discuss the books that I choose for them. I push these students to succeed. Some of them are 2 to 3 levels below grade level standards.
Now, wouldn't it be great if they could have a game day once a week to focus on those skills that are difficult for them?
These games would allow them to take a break from books and zone in on the skills they need to focus on; such as Vocabulary, Making Inferences, Grammar, Text Features, Text Structure, Figurative Language, etc.
