Mrs. Dewrell from Baltimore MD is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a class trip for 40 students to Echo Hill Outdoor School to participate in a 4-day long science-based environmental program with character development.

ECHO HILL TODAY = CLEANER CHESAPEAKE BAY TOMORROW! I am a 5th grade inner-city school teacher. My students are hard-working, enthusiastic learners, but often overlooked due to budgetary restrictions.
The students who attend my school come from low socio-economic families. Many of them come from single-parent households and receive free or reduced lunch. It is an extreme hardship for my students to pay the entire cost of the tuition for Echo Hill Outdoor School. I am hoping that any donations you give will help to significantly decrease the cost of the trip.
I need people to donate money to this trip in order for all of the students to attend. Echo Hill's purpose is to educate students about the natural environment. Its ecology classes teach both specific information about particular environments and the role of them on the Chesapeake Bay's water quality. The classes taken at Echo Hill (i.e. Bay Studies, Environmental Service Projects, Garbology, Night Hike, Orienteering, Pond Studies, Sensory Exploration of the Environment, Survival, Swamp Walk, and Swamp Canoe) will promote students' awareness and understanding of scientific and ecological principles. This trip includes hands-on experiments. The information gained from this experience will not only help the students to be good citizens, but prepares them for the state testing in Science. If you give to this project, my students will have an experience outside of the city that they might never have again. They will gain an appreciation for the Chesapeake and learn strategies to protect it for years to come.
Going to Echo Hill Outdoor School has been a tradition for my school for several years. Students look forward to this trip beginning in the first grade. Due to the economic hardships that the world is experiencing, many of the parents are unemployed and struggling to make ends meet. Currently, this trip is an impossibility. With your help, you can make a difference in my student's lives.
