It's Circle Time
My students need an oval carpet so they can have more space at carpet time.
I get to work with a great bunch of Kindergartners everyday. They work very hard and are willing to try anything. They have great eagerness for learning.
The students I work with come from very low income homes.
We are a Title I building with over 90% of our students receiving free and reduced cost lunches. The families we serve really want what is best for their kids and trust me as their teacher to help make those decisions. The students in my classroom are very loving and caring individuals. I want to foster the love and care of school. I also want to empower my students so they can be successful in the decisions they make on a daily basis.
My class spends a majority of their day at carpet time. We start the day with our morning meeting. During this time we each set personal goals for the day and how we are going to work toward those goals. We then move into our literacy time which included songs and chants. I also do math demonstrations during carpet time. The students set on the perimeter of the carpet so we can all see what each other is doing.
By having the oval carpet it will help improve my classroom by having the students be able to set comfortably around the perimeter of the carpet.
It will also help with students listening and speaking skills because they will be able to look at the person who is talking.
