Students in my school come from various backgrounds. We have a high ENL population where students are learning languages such as Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Spanish, Urdu, and more. I love teaching lessons that are engaging and motivational. To do this, I take students' interests into account, including the use of visuals, color, technology, hands-on experiences, field trips, etc.
My school is located in the heart of Flushing, NY.
We embrace diversity and are inclusive to all. Many of my students come from low-income homes and are grateful and easily excited by things that some of us take for granted. I am grateful for them and their willingness to learn from me in our learning environment that we build together.
My Project
This project is for basic classroom supplies. It is always difficult when you are scrounging around for things like these, such as extra folders, envelopes, post-its, and more.
My favorite items in this project are the silky twistable crayons.
There is something soothing about these crayons that I always find students love. A time when I take them out most is when I see students who are in crisis or who are seemingly stressed. Having the opportunity to color with them always seems to calm even the most stressed student (or teacher) down. I love to have tools like these in my bag of tricks.
