In my class, every student is special and unique. I've taken joy in being a part of a special school community where students, families, and teachers all work together to give our students a strong social, emotional and academic foundation. We all have the same goal in mind: to cultivate a nurturing environment in which we are committed to challenging each student to meet his/her optimal potential academically, socially, and emotionally by respecting, appreciating and challenging students in a caring community, while building a sense of responsibility and respect.
My Project
In my room we don’t have “regular desks”, we have tables the students share to sit at. The tables have let me create a more modern, comfortable environment for my students to learn in. The only problem with having tables is that there is no storage for books, pens, markers, etc. we now have most of our writing utensils in the middle of the table and our books on the side shelves. To make my class run more effectively, I am asking for seat sacks where the students will have all their supplies right on the back of their chair. This will help create more learning time, instead of wasting time passing out materials then collecting them all at the end of a lesson, just to hand out new materials.
