"It's Friday! Friday! Friday! Don't wanna work, I want to play!" This is a favorite chant of my fifth graders who visit at least three classrooms each Friday, singing and being praised for their hard work that they have completed that week. The students' enthusiasm for celebrating their hard work permeates throughout the entire building.
One hundred percent of our school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch in our rural community, but participating in a variety of activities, definitely keeps these fifth graders engaged and willing to learn.
We also have a local National Guard Unit in our area and have a lot of military families with parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins serving in our beautiful country. Our staff also has the opportunity to focus on the homeless students in our area by attending workshops and lectures to meet the needs of our students. We are dedicated to helping our students and their families in every way we can.
My Project
Our school's microphone system is in need of new microphones for the upcoming school year. Our current microphones have been thoroughly used over the last five years and it is now time to replace the old system with an updated workable system for all our students.
Our sound system is used for a variety of activities that include school wide assemblies, performances, plays, after school jumprope team, outside events, and it is also used in individual classrooms as well.
We love our current sound system, but the microphones keep cutting out and they are not working effectively. It is very frustrating to not only the performers, but also the audience when the microphones cut out and prevent us from hearing.
The cables and extension cord also are needed for the microphones to work properly with our current sound system. I have also included the batteries in this project that each microphone will need so that all our students and teachers can be heard! It is definitely all about the mic when it comes to using our sound system. Our students love to be heard and this project would make that happen.
