Our school serves a diverse community that includes many different cultures. We enjoy celebrating those cultures through music. Our students cover a wide range of learning abilities and each student is an important part of our school.
My students are eager to learn new things.
They absolutely love learning music! They love talking about it, dancing to it, and singing. However they are unable to learn to accompany themselves because we have so few instruments. The instruments we do have are mostly the basic rhythm band kind. Many students do not have access to instruments or music lessons at home.
My Project
My students are fabulous singers. They sing with enthusiasm and skill. They love adding any percussion sounds that they can to the great songs we are learning. Mostly we need to use body percussion, as available instruments are sadly lacking.
A bass xylophone will give students the opportunity to learn essential skills by adding harmony and percussion to our music.
It will also give the students a chance to experiment with the music they are making, thereby becoming fully immersed in the musical process.
In order to learn about music, you need to make music. This instrument will help us to that.
