My Students
For the upcoming school year, I will be a special education teacher at the school I have taught at for the past 4 years. It is a title 1 school. Many of my students come from low-income households.
My students will come from various grade levels with various needs. This group will need movement, sensory breaks, and consistency.
My Project
This project aims at reaching the many needs that will be found in my classroom. Students will have flexible seating options that include wiggle stools, bean bags, cushions, and rocking chairs. This will help keep the students engaged and on-task. In addition, this project aims at providing hands-on learning and sensory tools. Many of my students have sensory needs. This project would fund hands on sensory boxes, sensory tools, and it even includes sensory learning. Sensory breaks allow my students to have regulation abilities when they are feeling overwhelmed or anxious regarding something. Teaching them how to appropriately take breaks and what tools best help regulate their emotions.
