Help me give my students the opportunity to hold a book in their hands as we read Wonder--a story of kindness, perseverance, and friendship!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 35 high energy fifth graders that consist of 20 boys and 15 girls. They are exceptionally hard working and enjoy learning each day. This group of children is diligent and positive minded and they seek knowledge in all areas.
They live in a low income, urban area in Southern California and the majority of my students only live with one parent or family member, with a great many of them living in a foster care situation.
These wonderful students never let their lack of advantages hinder their love of learning and I want to continue that with the love of reading.
My group is sweet and remind me of little sponges. They are soaking up everything I'm giving them and asking for more.
We are requesting a class set of the book Wonder. I believe these books will help my students because currently I only have one copy of Wonder that I have to show on a projector and sometimes our technology doesn't work correctly.
I feel that the most important part of the learning process is giving students the chance to connect ideas with what they see in front of them.
The books will provide my students a physical approach to learning and help them process information in a way that is easier than on a screen.
A big plus is I will be able to use these for years to come because I always will continue to use Wonder during my literature unit each year.
