How much do you know about other cultures? How many cultures have you experienced throughout your lifetime? My Kindergarten students will experience numerous cultures throughout their lifetime and need to develop an understanding of cultures.
I teach Kindergarten at a Title 1 Elementary School.
We educate children who come from a primarily low income, single parent background. Majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch. However, our students make the best of what they have. In addition, they strive to do their personal best each and every day. Our mission is "to provide a quality education in a safe environment where all children can succeed."
My Project
My students need the following multicultural books and puzzles to enrich our Social Studies curriculum. As part of our Social Studies curriculum, my students will learn about other cultures in terms of language, food, dress, and customs. Each of these materials will apply to an area of our Cultural study.
These materials will allow my students many opportunities to explore different cultures. Through the multicultural book sets, my students will acquire knowledge of how children around the world live. My students will explore the foods they eat, how they get to school, their clothing, popular games, and much more. The puzzles will assist my students in creating a visual of children around the world. By putting together the puzzles, my students will identify differences between cultures.
By providing my students with these materials, I will make cultures come alive and bring the world to them.
These materials will enrich our multicultural study. My students will be able to explore, experience, and connect to other cultures without leaving the classroom.
