My students are awesome! My school is a Title One school. My students have not had a broad range of opportunities and experiences in their young lives. When we talk about the world around them, they do not understand because they have not experienced many things outside their home. Many of our students' parents work multiple jobs and are not home with their families. Students come into my first grade classroom lacking social, physical, and emotional skills that need to be taught. Please help me provide experiences and learning opportunities for my amazing students.
My Project
1st Graders are so excited about learning to read! It's not easy for a six year old to commit to such a task! They are involved all morning long in centers and teacher instruction! But it's all worth it when they are able to choose free time every day...just to read! No one interrupts them, talks phonics to them, or questions their comprehension. They just get to read with a buddy or by themselves! This is a time when they find a special place in the classroom where they feel happy! They love it!

Students will love reading in a Jungle Corner with carpet, fun seating, and animals to snuggle with! It is amazing how quickly my first graders learn to read when they become a part of exciting surroundings with books just waiting to be opened and shared! Please help us enrich our 1st Grade Classroom by adding a reading corner for our excited students!
