Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at our school are highly motivated and intelligent young people. Despite coming from an area that is high need, my studentsare very high achieving. They belong to a school community that is ranked 1st among elementary schools in the Newark Public School System. Each student has set a goal of increasing their personal performance on PARCC as well as increasing their ability to read and analyze text. They all have aspirations of going to college and recognize that the fundamentals they learn while at our school serves as a spring board to their success.
My students this year are combining both their research and writing skills with their creative sides.
In addition to researching controversial issues, they are researching time periods in world history to become more aware of the global society they live in. I am very proud of their hard work and can't wait to share photos of what they are doing in class.
My Project
My students are creating incredible projects. From Revolutionary War 3-D models, to Chinese New Year museum exhibits, Mesoamerican Pyramids and Campaign Posters over the ratifying of the constitution. All of these project are missing just one thing a color printer.
The one thing my students always ask me when they are working on a project is whether or not they can print in color.
Unfortunately due to limited school funds there is no color printer in school. Additionally, most of my students don't have printers at their homes either. I can only imagine how spectacular their projects would like if they had the chance to print them in color. I want to be able to share the gift of color with them and show them It's a "Colorful" Life.
