This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

It's about pounding, molding, shaping, and firing with the expectations of a positive outcome. I'm talking about clay art but Social Emotional Learning could be an easy substitute. It's been a tough year, but our kiddos are making the best of it. Clay art serves as a therapeutic way to create.

My goal as the only art teacher in our school of 300+ students is to maintain a safe space to think, dream and create.

Our daily objectives are to acknowledge our and each other's artistic strengths, trust, and respect the process. And if they like it...then that's a bonus! This, in turn, could lead to commissioned art projects and entrepreneurship.
