My students need two iPods equipped with video screens.

iThink therefore iPod! The students in my class are great creative thinkers when fueled by lots of input. I teach 3rd through 5th graders in a pull-out program for creatively an/or academically advanced students. Our school is high-poverty, with 99% on free lunch and most of my students live in very poor conditions. However there is such wonderful potential within these young minds. Their hunger for learning is almost visible!
My students are always the first ones finished with assignments in their regular classrooms and often just sit until it is time to move on to the next lesson. Many times they get into trouble by talking, etc. because they are bored. The classroom teacher is often so busy with lower ability students that the high-end learners are left to "fend for themselves" with extra time.
Recently I allowed several students to use my personal iPod to listen to learning podcasts after they completed their classwork in their regular classroom. It was incredible! The students loved the technology and were so excited about what they learned on the podcast. They passed around the iPod then used their extra time to write summaries of what they had learned! It was a great solution for everyone involved. Now we just need more iPods to pass around and a few wall chargers. With the wealth of podcasts, videos, etc. available on the Internet, I will be able to introduce my students to different types of music, classical art through video tours, lectures on diversity, even science experiment demonstrations! A whole world of learning is out there waiting!!
Your help will bring that world of learning right into their eyes and ears! Your help will allow the students to see things beyond imagine to spark their creative thinking, empower them with dreams, and quench their thirst for daily learning.
