You may want to ask, "What would young children need an iTouch?" As you will see, there are tons of uses for an iTouch for elementary age children. Donating to this project would allow my students to experience all the benefits!
My students are eager to learn second graders who love technology.
They love center activities. The school district is located in a high poverty area and is completely Title I. The iTouches would bring numerous experiences to the children since it is difficult for parents to provide them in this economy. My students have a wide range of abilities and the wide variety of activities for the iTouch would allow all students to benefit. The numerous free and inexpensive practice applications and games would give me the opportunity to continually download new and fun activities for all students on different levels of difficulty as the students grow academically.
My Project
The iTouches are useful tools that would be used throughout the day in all subject areas. I would put stories read by various people on the iTouches to provide students with numerous books to listen too. This will increase student fluency. By having multiple iTouches, it will allow the students to use them during center activities. Center time is the perfect time to individualize education. Students will use them to enhance reading skills, practice grammar skills, drill math facts and explore various science and social studies skills. The possibilities for classroom use and student growth is endless with the use of an iTouch.
