It Would Melt My Heart If We Could Make Glass Fused Art!

My students need this glass fusing kiln so they can experience the magic that is glass fusing! We have the glass, we need the kiln to be able to fire the glass!

My Students

My young artists are able to experience lots of the traditional ways of creating art. My students have access to paint, glue, printmaking supplies and clay. I would like to give them the experience of the magic of glass fusing. This art media can be used by all grade levels!

I teach in a rural county in KY.

Some of my students have never been out of our county. I try to give them as many different art experiences as I can on my small budget. My budget is $1.00 a student. I can bring more experiences and a new art media to them by having a glass kiln. I teach 650, K-5th grade students and every student in my school would benefit from this small tabletop kiln.

My Project

Many students come from lower income families and this kiln would allow them to create pendants, necklaces and bracelets as well as paperweights, that could be given as gifts to family members. The students could produce art work that is very different than the usual paintings and cut paper projects we traditionally create. The shine of the glass and the iridescent quality it has will give the students an art media experience unlike they have ever been able to experience. I was fortunate enough to be given several glass kits. You see, I already have the glass that is needed to create the project, I just have no way to fuse it together. If my students could be granted the privilege of having the kiln then we can use the glass we have and start fusing the day the kiln is delivered!

Every person that makes a donation toward our glass fusing kiln can say they helped inspire a young artist!

I have a "choice" art studio, so students are able to choose what projects they create. A student can walk into class, use school glue to glue their glass pieces together, place it in the kiln and 40 minutes later, have a piece of fused glass to take home and proudly show their family. It does not get any better or more magical than that!
