This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We enjoy getting together on a monthly basis to work in cooperative groups with our Best Buddies! We have a few boxes of pencils and markers that are shared, but not enough art supplies for each small group to have their own organized sets. We would be grateful for boxes of markers and colored pencils that would allow us to continue creating memorable projects that foster lasting bonds.

Students will use the art kits to interact with their Best Buddies in a safe space in order to create projects together; also creating lasting memories and friendships.

The art kits will assist students in learning organizational skills, time management, and active participation as they set up and clean up the tables used for the cooperative activities. Students will also have an opportunity to practice financial literacy as they earn campus currency during each session. Our students need to know the importance of currency and financial stability and this will occur naturally within our sessions.
