My second-grade classroom is transforming from a traditional classroom of instruction to a technology-infused classroom of collaboration and exploration.
At my school, students have a passion for learning, contributing to their school community, and solving real-world problems.
All of our school's students are eager to learn and have great potential. Our students deserve to learn skills that they can apply in their technology-rich futures and careers. I feel that providing opportunities for students to work with age-appropriate technology helps our students become better learners and gives them the foundations for a tech-infused future.
My Project
My students need an opportunity to learn about money through hands on play. Each year, my students learn about economics. They work very hard to get through our units, create a product to sell, and man a store on "business day".
To take my students understanding of financial literacy to the next level, my students need multiple opportunity to interact with the concepts of economics through play.
The osmo systems are used for various subject areas in my classroom. The pizza co game is beloved, but we need another one with a base to allow more students to practice making change for their virtual customers.
The allowance game, students race around the colorful board doing chores and collecting an allowance, then spend their earnings on the things they want. Students learn how to earn funds for their choirs and loose funds when they choose to skip things they need, such as homework.
The math folder complete set will help reach students on various levels of math understanding. Some students are practicing foundations of place value while others are learning that different amounts of an item effect the price of their cart. With this resource students will boost their math skills independently…with fun folder games they’ll love to play!
Finally, students will learn core economics concepts with the Exploring Economy Hands-On Activities. This kits are created to develop skills in economics, understanding wants and needs, exchange, money, opportunity cost, simple budgets, saving, spending, donating money, and understanding the production of goods and the roles of suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers in the supply chain.
