My students are resilient. They come to my office weighed down by painful experiences. They come looking for hope. I’m amazed everyday by their willingness to keep fighting when giving up would be easy. I want them to know how special they are to me and that I see their pain and am willing to find ways to help them. By providing them a safe environment, I can be a piece of that hope in their lives. I can help them locate resources they need and provide it to them in an accessible way. I can be a positive person and promote positive behaviors.
This project is a part of our positive behavior initiative! It seems hard to get 7-12 grade students interested in being good role models but that is our teams goal! We have created positive behavior tickets that students receive when they are observed by an adult acting in a positive way like helping another student, turning in all their homework or great attendance. We have purchased a TV, t-shirts, balls, headphones and more. The tickets are drawn each week for these prizes. It is a great way to encourage positive behavior and the students really look forward to the prizes! Thank you for helping!
