Kindergarten is such a unique grade to teach. We have so many different ability levels. Some students come to school ready to read while others are struggling to hold a pencil. Our students are fun loving kids who enjoy playing outside, games, and technology.
Our class puts a special emphasis on learning to interact with each other in a positive and personal ways.
We do this with lots of tools. We even use technology! We are a school that focuses on using technology in a purposeful way. Technology as a tool not a toy. We want students to be experienced communicators. We provide them with every opportunity and lots of practice.
My Project
My classroom is a buzzing environment rich with many learning opportunities. Kindergarten is a place where we focus on learning to imagine, create, explore, read, write, add, and the list is endless. One way that I have found to combine all of our learning goals is by using technology and tangible play at the same time. Young children need to be able to touch things and create things. Osmo provides a way for us to use technology and manipulatives to play and learn. We currently use Osmo to code, add, practice sight words, and create music. We would like to add to our Osmo learning the opportunity to use dramatic play and detective skills.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student engagement, but you will also ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Please help me to provide my students with this Osmo opportunity. The Osmo Pizza Shop combines playing restaurant and math skills. The Osmo Detective Agency gives students an opportunity to put on their thinking caps and travel the world. Students search through clues in different cities learning about geography and problem-solving. These tools will allow students to grow in their imagination, problem-solving skills, and math skills. I know we can provide this amazing opportunity for my students as long as I get your support.
