I need transportation to attend the International Society of Technology in Education conference in Chicago to bring the best learning opportunities to my students.
My students are amazing readers, creators, techies, and innovators who love to learn as much as possible! These students live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina where they love to spend their days with their toes in the sand and books in their hands. As their librarian, I see all students grades K-5 every single week, and I love to see how they develop as readers, researchers, makers, and technology experts throughout elementary school.
These enthusiastic individuals embrace traditional and digital literacy by having fun with books and technology and by creating and collaborating with their friends.
Their love of reading, hands-on learning, and technology stands out and lets me know that I need to continually develop professionally to ensure I am meeting their needs!
My Project
This professional development opportunity will give me the skills I need to bring new learning platforms to my students. It will ensure that I am an active learner, staying in tune with the latest technologies before school starts again in fall 2018. I will be able to attend sessions that will give me the knowledge of how to use math and science skills most effectively in the library. Accordingly, it will also give me the tools to be an effective financial literacy teacher, by providing resources for topics such as being a smart digital consumer. As I already collaborate with classroom teachers on this content, I would love to bring more content-specific knowledge to the table. I know that this conference will give me the resources I need to prepare for a very successful school year! Please consider supporting this endeavor!
