Isn't Science Important At My Age?

The cost of these Science Materials is $196, including shipping and <a target="new" href="" onclick="g_openWindow('', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.

You might be thinking, oh! it's getting close to the end of the school year, what could the children possibly need? WELL!! My challenge is that now I must include environmental changes into the curriculum. I must use various approaches to teach about the many changes that occur in and around our environment. This becomes quite a challenge and a difficult task when I don't have the appropriate materials to teach with. I desperately need materials that will expose my kindergarten students to the various weather changes, life cycles, animals, plant cycles, simple machines, the foods pyramid etc. The exposure to these topics allows for the environment to become part of our classroom. I am very enthusiastic about creating an enriching and fun science curriculum but I am limited to what I can do and afford. I am even going to learn how to care for a frog so that my students can experience the lifecycle from tadpole to frog in the classroom. Students at this stage of their academic exposure need to explore, touch, and feel things in order to really make sense and understand the world around them and the changes in the environment. For instance the other day one student asked me "what happened to spring?" I asked why because it still is spring. He stated but it's winter again - we had a few pretty cold days early in spring and he was confused about how the wheather is not changing when the season already changed. I had to create a whole lesson on seasonal and weather changes so that understanding can occur. Occurances and changes are not always easy to understand when you are 5 years old. But, with exposure to the right materials and exploration of those material students will flourish and want to learn more. That is my true goal as an educator to create a world of learners. I hope that it is also your goal as you decide to help me and my students with this proposal. Thank You Always.
