I teach precious children in kindergarten through third grade who have special needs at a Title 1 school in Texas. As a result, I am always trying to find ways to stimulate learning by making it interesting and fun. I love teaching these children and witnessing the amazing transformation that happens as my students develop a love of learning.
I teach resource/inclusion support so I witness my students getting frustrated in the classroom on a daily basis.
At this young age, they are still eager to learn but are sometimes easily discouraged because of the challenges they face with learning in a traditional way. I intend for these new materials to help expand their learning experiences and open up new opportunities in order for them to learn in a whole new way.
My Project
I believe I can help enhance student learning with the use of an iPad. The use of the iPad will not only allow them to learn how to use technology but it will also help them grow in the areas of math, writing, reading and spelling. The iPad will allow students to use interactive games which helps them feel independent because they do not have to ask the teacher for assistance. The math centers and manipulatives will be used to help my students feel more confident while they work independently. They typically get very frustrated when I send them off to work on their own and these things will allow them to have materials that are fun and interactive.
