I have twenty-two students from varying backgrounds, who are familiar with Apple products and have the skills to use technology to enhance their learning through educational applications and websites. Currently we have minimal student access to technology inside the classroom.
As a first grade teacher, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to help my students grow as strong and independent learners during their first years of experience in a school setting.
Our class is made up self-starters who are enthusiastic readers, writers, mathematicians and scientists. My goal is to continue to encourage and deepen their love for learning.
This project will fund six iPads for my first grade classroom. With the iPads, students will be engaged when using them in small groups (i.e. math centers, language arts centers). There are many educational iPad applications available and appropriate for first grade with an option for differentiation.
The iPads will allow me to work with a small group of students while another group is working on iPads.
Students will work independently and be engaged while working on the iPads to build literacy, math and technology skills.
These iPads will be the toolkit to their learning in many ways. They are very familiar with technology and this will allow all types of learners to be successful.
