North Carolina now states that students (K-8) must be provided a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily. However we only have PE once a week for 45 minutes. This means that every other day of the week, we go out to recess for our physical activity. The only problem is that we do not have any interactive recess equipment besides our stationary playground sets. Four classes at a time use the playground so it would be very beneficial to the students if we had materials play with. Otherwise students are left standing around and waiting in line to use the swings. The playground equipment that we are asking for would provide us with fun and exciting materials to enjoy our 30 minutes of physical activity each day. Sporttime sells these great recess packs that include playground balls, jump ropes, skip n' hops, flying disks, basketballs, footballs, a soccer ball, and a mesh duffel bag. They allow students to practice and develop skills in a developmentally appropriate way and are sold by grade level. We would also like scoop ball set, sack hopper, junior stilt cups, and a Velcro catch set. Another perk to owning our very own recess equipment is that it teaches the students cooperation and responsibility. Please help us to stay healthy through daily exercise with these wonderful materials!
