Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever gone to staple something and realized you were out of staples?! This school year has just started and we want to make sure that we have all the supplies that we need!
My students are in Kindergarten, and are part of a charter school in Long Island City, New York that focuses on choral music.
Currently the school is growing year by year. We are a kindergarten through sixth-grade school that will eventually reach the eighth-grade. We have a very diverse population in our school.
My Project
Labels and markers will all ensure that our classroom is in order and help to teach basic organizational skills. Name badges serve two purposes. They will help my students for when we go on field trips, so I can add an additional layer of protection for them. They also help us come together and grow as a community. We use name badges in the classroom for 'getting to know you' activities.
Thicker Ticonderoga pencils will help my students that struggle with fine motor skills. They are easier to hold than your every day pencil. Tactile letter and number cards will help reinforce letter names and sounds as we take this journey across the alphabet during Kindergarten this year. Whiteboard erasers help to keep our whiteboards clean and keep us working for ours on end!
This school year is off to a wonderful start already, and I want to keep us headed that way.
As a teacher, parents leave their children in my care and expect the world of us. It is my job to make sure that when my students are with me, I am giving them all that I can.
This project will help my dreams come true. These school supplies on this project will help ensure that my students have the basic necessities to be set up for success their Kindergarten year.
