Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students like technology, which is great, but what if they could BUILD the technology?
My students are Second Graders that have been accepted into the Gifted and Talented academy for our district.
Being young and identified as gifted they should be challenged in academics and technology.
Most of my students do not have computers at home, which means students need to learn about technology and resources in the classroom. Students learn how to work collaboratively with each other through online resources, but are also provided some opportunities to have fun with technology.
My Project
I want to teach my students the gamete of programming and coding. The future is in technology and how to control it. Students need to learn the basics of the English language and Mathematics to graduate from school, but they must learn the basics of coding and electronics to succeed in the future.
Coding and Electronics work hand and hand in the computer field. I would like to get my students used to working with both in a play environment.
Students can learn to create their own circuits using the snap circuits and move on to the Makey Makey. Using the books and other resources students will be able to teach themselves and build their own projects based on their own ideas.
I want students to understand the basics of programming and electronics when they leave my class.
I want the students to have a leg up on their competition in programming and are able to make their own ideas come to life.
