This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are registered for the Botball autonomous robotics competition and they were thankfully able to upgrade to the newest version of the iRobot Create3, which is reputedly faster and has more sensors.

Unfortunately, the face plate design has holes that don't fit the screws that the students are using to build attachments like arms and claws.

In order to build other mechanisms on top of their robot, the students will have to drill directly onto the face plate, and widening the holes so that the screws will fit. Knowing middle school students though, they will make mistakes, so we want to have replacement face plates for when the students accidentally drill too much so that we can reset. Additionally, extra face plates will allow the students to prototype different designs at once and they can swap them out as needed. Having these face plates will be a great boon to our program and help the students learn the engineering design process as well as make things easier during the competition.
