I teach a first grade classroom at a Title I elementary school in Melbourne, Florida. These students come from low income/high poverty areas and about 90% qualify for free or reduced lunch. That being said, it has been my mission to cultivate a classroom full of comfort and kindness. My students genuinely love coming into the classroom every day.
I'm ready to kick it up a notch this year, and bring additional technology into the classroom!
This project would bring tablets into the classroom for use during reading and math centers, science and social studies projects, and STEM projects! I'm currently listed to start the year off with 20 students, but that number is looking like it will rapidly approach 30! I'm ready to bring some fun and engaging lessons into the classroom for my firsties!
My Project
These iPads will be part of a multi-step project integrating technology into my first grade classroom! Our district has blessed us with the use of iReady this school year, and we will be utilizing it to differentiate instruction in both areas of reading and math. This program will be tailored to each of my students learning abilities.. Amazing!
This is where the iPads come in... i'd like to build our technology up to SIX iPads in the classroom for our students to be able to use iReady as much as possible in the classroom, and really allow it to be a part of our culture.
I'd also like for my students to have access to Epic!, another reading app that features a "read to me" setting so i'm able to reach the reading levels for ALL of my students.
Finally, after the addition of 6 iPads, i'd like to begin a project for Osmo STEM Genius kits. They're amazing! What a fun way to incorporate STEM and technology into the classroom.
I'm truly excited to take the first step towards these goals for my classroom! This project will allow many of my students to have access to technology that they aren't able to have at home. What a great way to create a fun and engaging learning environment for my students!
