Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Raise your hand if you can remember what it was like to learn to read? It's exciting, but nerve-racking. I am in a classroom full of students who are motivated and ready to learn. I want my students to leave my classroom as not only readers, but children who love to read.
Every day I work with my students, I learn something new.
Each one of them is so special. They are all so motivated and anxious to learn. They challenge me as a teacher, just as much as I challenge them. We are a family. I work at a Title I school in a rural community. With that said, technology is not something they might always have had the chance to use.
My Project
Each one of my students can benefit from the iPad minis, whether they are reading on a first grade level or still learning their letters. Students will be able to use apps for reading strategies, interactive reading, fluency, comprehension, word work, and writing. These iPads will give my students the chance to listen to reading, which is not something that always happens often. As a teacher, I can use the iPads as a form of classroom management and a way to track my students' progress. It gives me a chance to differentiate instruction for my students and teach them in a new way.
My students will get the chance to learn in a new way and give them something they are not necessarily used to.
It gives some of them that spark that starts their reading journey. My classroom will be rich with readers and students who are excited to learn.
