We have a diverse student body, with a range of socioeconomic status families, many students with free and reduced lunch, and over 50 countries represented. We are a public elementary school in the suburbs outside of a major city. Our school was built in the early 60s and is currently in need of regular maintenance and upkeep in order to meet our students' needs. Our school is known for our sense of community and we strive to meet all students' needs and make them feel at home each and every day!
Our students need 2 iPod touches in the library in order to get hands-on experience working with a Sphero Spark + robotics set as well as Google Cardboard Virtual Reality glasses.
Virtual Reality and Robotics are the wave of the future and our students need access!
Students will be able to experience these as part of our library Maker Space. In our Maker Space, students in grades 1 through 5 can come in and explore, create, and build with their peers. I would love to give them the opportunity to code and design their own robotics or travel to a new country or planet in virtual reality!
