This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Schools face the challenge of preparing students for the demands of a technologically advanced world, yet lack the resources to do so.

My students are wonderful people who enjoy learning with digital media.

They love using computers and social media to interact with and learn from others. Since they come from low-income communities, very few of them own iPod Touches, as the cost of these devices is prohibitive to their families.

My Project

I am piloting a digital citizenry project with my students, to teach them how technological tools can be used to not only consume, but also create media that informs and inspires. Students will use the iPod Touches to communicate with students all around the world, via Skype and other interactive applications, to learn more about the world around them. They will learn to use applications to create and disseminate digital content that expresses their knowledge and real-life concerns.

The students in my class learn technological skills that can be applied in multiple real-world settings.

With your help, they will learn how to use iPod Touches to explore their surroundings and create original content.
