My Students

I want to open my students' eyes to the possibilities of using technology as a tool for learning and accessing the world around them and beyond. Having iPod touches will allow them to further access information and enrich their learning.

My school is a high poverty school in a very affluent district.

People get the idea that if you are a San Ramon school, you are wealthy but this is not true. Our students come from a diverse economic and cultural setting. There is inequity in our district in terms of what classroom supplies our students have compared to others in the same district. Eventually all of our students will mingle with the students who have always had access to computers, bound composition books, and rich reading and writing materials.

My Project

With these iPod touches, my students will be able to research through the Internet, watch curriculum integrated videos, and create and listen to podcasts. They will use them as an instant response system, a listening center, and use them as timers for fluency. They will also read books online and listen to music.

It would be so exciting to have these iPod touches in our room!

The possibilities for using them are endless. My hope is that we will not only be able to have them as a daily helpful tool but that they will help inspire the students in my class to create and share their ideas through podcasts, presentations, etc. Having our own set in our classroom will give my students continuous access without the cost of computers.
