Mrs. Whitney from Huntersville NC is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a iPod so they can learn a variety of subject areas. The various iPod apps will allow my students learn English while they learn science, math, etc.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
English language learners face a challenge of understanding new concepts unless they are introduced at a level appropriate for them supported by various visuals, etc. The use of iPod apps will provide my students the opportunity to learn music, science, math, history, arts, reading, etc
My students come from a variety of countries like Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ethiopia, Burma, Vietnam, El Salvador, etc.
I teach K-5th grade students at two schools. They majority of the students I personally teach are 1st or 2nd generation immigrants. They are so appreciate of all of the resources provided for them and are highly engaged and motivated to learn. I teach the students a variety of subject areas such as math, science and literacy. The use of 21st century technology in our classroom is essential. The students benefit the most with hands-on, visual activities like those of the iPod.
The iPod provides a one-stop shop of the resources the students need for EVERY subject area and allows differentiation to occur frequently. Though the purchase of apps students can learn about music in different countries, tell time, gain new science vocabulary, practice math facts and word problems, etc.
This project is important because it will provide the students with a huge impact in their education.
The iPod apps will provide the necessary information scaffolding each Limited Proficient child needs for every subject area like: science, math, music, p.e., literacy, technology, etc. This is easy to use and appropriate for student learning.
