Todayâs students live in a digital age and enthusiastically embrace the use of portable electronic devices. Sharing 4 computers for a classroom of 24 students is an ongoing challenge and I struggle with the ability to provide adequate resources for this beneficial environment.
My school is a full inclusion school that has students from all abilities and disabilities working, sharing, and learning together all day.
We have students that have a disability, are typically developing, as well as gifted, working collaboratively in our classrooms. Technology like this would allow my students to access the curriculum in a way that is more Universally Designed to meet ALL of their needs.
My Project
With so many educational apps available on an iPod Touch, my students would be able to carry an entire library of reference materials, enjoy interactive lessons or even games that make learning fun, research, create podcasts, access educational apps, and much more! Apps are transforming the way teachers teach and students learn. There are apps for every subject â" and every stage of learning which would allow ALL of my students of varying abilities to access the curriculum through an engaging avenue!
Having this technology available in our classroom would open so many doors of possibility for my students.
I have seen the opportunity for learning that iPads can offer but they are much more expensive! I think with a set of 4 iPod Touches, I will be able to offer my students a similar learning experience at a fraction of the cost. My students will have the ability to be engaged and learn through the "digital road to learning!"
