"Are the computers open?" Is a question heard a lot in my kindergarten classroom. Unfortunately, we only have 3 computers in my classroom of 24 students who are eager to use technology in our classroom.
I have a group of 24 eager and curious kindergartners who love to learn about the world around them.
My class is composed of a diverse group of children varying socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Unfortunately, not all my students have access to technology at home and with a technology based world that we live in now I feel it very important that my students are able to have access to technology while they are at school.
My Project
The iPad provides applications which are designed to meet individual learning styles of each child. I can meet the needs of my at risk students through many researched based learning apps and I can also motivate my higher students to go beyond their comfort zone and challenge them to continue to their highest potential. I will use the iPad to motivate and challenge them in math, reading, science, and social studies. The iPads will make learning fun and help them succeed with the rigorous Common Core Standards without the boring paper and pencil routine.
I will be able to differentiate my small group lessons so that I am able to reach all levels of learning.
I believe that having an iPad in our classroom will motivate and engage my young learners into becoming life long learners!
They will find joy in learning and that excitement will spread like wild fire throughout my classroom. It will bring the feeling of success to those students who may struggle with the usual paper and pencil methods and it will ignite the minds of students who need a challenge!
