Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine having a teacher that can bring lessons to life in the classroom. Think of how engaged and hands-on a classroom would be if you had an iPad that could do this for students. I want my classroom to be a place my students look forward to coming to every single day.
My students attend a Title One school that is predominately Hispanic.
The majority of my students are English Language learners (20 out of 21) who have very limited technology resources at home. Many of my students come into the classroom with very little English. This however does not stop their determination to learn and succeed in school. With very limited technology resources in the classroom, it is difficult to engage students in creating technology driven projects to bring real-world experiences to life. My students do not have technology that you and I have at home to use every night. My students will be thrilled and thankful to have an iPad mini in our classroom.
My Project
I am requesting an iPad mini for my classroom. By having an iPad available in my classroom at all times I am able to customize and differentiate the learning experience for each student through apps and projects that meet the needs of my students. We do several rotations in all of the content areas. I would love to expose my students to creating projects on the iPad by including it in the rotations. They would be able to customize and create real-world projects and then share them with the rest of the class. Since education is forcing teachers to use and bring technology into the hands of our students, this opportunity would help me in doing so. There are hundreds and thousands of apps that will be able to reach the needs of my English Language Learners.
This donation will bring engagement and hands-on learning to an entirely different level.
My students will be able to interact and share projects they created with their peers. It is so important to me to be able to bring these opportunities to life for my students. I want to be able to take my students to the next level of education by using an iPad.
