Help me give my students 5 of the the latest Apple iPads so they can access the latest apps and research-based programs to meet the diversity of needs in our classroom.
My students are lively, talkative, and have a hard time being still. They love flexible seating which helps keep their minds engaged while their bodies have space to squirm. Like me, they want to be comfortable and constantly active.
They also have diversity in the way they learn so we rely on technology to help us accommodate those needs.
Students really want to be able to use iPads to meet their needs ranging from basic handwriting interventions to high level academic skills. The iPads we have are so old that they won't even load the newest IOS update, much less stay charged for more than a few minutes. Many of the newest apps will not work. Even ClassDojo portfolios won't load! My students are so disappointed that they can't modify their monster, upload videos of student projects, or use basic academic apps to explore different subjects.
My Project
In our classroom, we rely on technology as well as people to help meet the needs of students. There are so many terrific apps and researched-based programs out there that provide a fun, entertaining way to learn and keep students' attention while they learn.
So many times lately, we've tried to incorporate something new with technology, but our iPads are just old, out-dated, and need to visit the Apple graveyard.
It's frustrating as a teacher and extra frustrating to the students. They LOVE technology. I want to be able to provide them with five iPads to use during Reading and Math Workshops along with time during interventions using research-based programs.
