We have a classroom filled with bright and beautiful young faces eager to connect with and learn from technology. Technology offers access to educational apps that would enhance classroom learning and benefit every single student in class 3-400.
We have 27 diverse 3rd graders coming from different cultural background that reflects the city in which they live.
While we are grateful for the wonderful and supportive community we belong to, our access to modern technology remains limited.
It is our goal to find ways to provide better access to technology to foster our students’ academic growth. Our class of 3rd graders is eager to learn via technology and we are eager to provide them with digital tools that will help them develop and grow in a world where technology advances rapidly. It is part of our job as teachers to keep up with education technology, that is why we strongly believe that iPads would provide our students with access to many resources and apps that would greatly enhance our curriculum.
My Project
iPads would provide a fun and engaging way for our students to work independently and to have hands-on experience with math, literature, reading, real-life images and videos of different topics, geography and endless other opportunities. Today’s children should get access to technology so they can navigate in today’s world.
We learn about countries around the world in social studies. Using an iPad mini, a group of kids could watch videos and slideshows about access to water in Ethiopia. They could then create a presentation to raise awareness about well-building using kid-friendly apps like HaikuDeck and Prezi. Or, instead of simply reading about the Great Wall of China, students could locate it and trace its route via Google Earth.
With tablets, something as basic as grammar or practicing the times tables becomes interactive and powerful.
We are eager to help our kids to build the technological and media literacy they need to thrive in today's tech-saturated world.
From creating presentations and recording speeches to practicing basic skills like crafting complete sentences, our students will use the iPad minis to make learning memorable.
