iPads to Encourage Real World Learning in the Classroom
Help me give my students Ipads and cases for small group technology support, while using the workshop model in both math and literacy and also allowing me to provide culturally relevant material at each student's appropriate level.
BRIGHT. CURIOUS. SWEET. KIND. GENEROUS. INTERESTING. FUNNY. CULTURALLY DIVERSE. GROWTH MINDED. LOVING. These are just a few words that instantly pop into my head when I think of my class. The list could go on and on but I can say these words without any degree of struggle in my descriptions.
We work hard everyday, bringing the curriculum to life and making third grade meaningful for all students.
We emphasize inclusion and celebrate all differences and unique qualities of each and every student. We work as a team and end the day exhausted from all we have taken in and learned. The above listed qualities help to make the daily goals successful.
My Project
Having the ability to ensure that every student has the opportunity for technology in their hands that provides a gateway to support our district curriculum and brings real world learning with culturally relevant material to my students will be a game changer in my classroom! Students will be able to access information and communicate with the teacher and classmates in an open and collaborative situation. The information and skill set gained through these opportunities will ideally help to cultivate deep, inquisitive minds, thereby increasing achievement and success in the classroom.
The use of technology with students helps to support both literacy and math workshop models through small group centers as well as guided and shared instruction.
All content areas taught in the classroom could easily have text and activities shared through Google Drive, which would lead to the best practice of differentiated instruction for all students. Engagement increases as does their focus with this learning environment and results in a win-win situation for all.
